Stocks, production, trade and station availability answer different questions. These 14 public observations across six regions keep their geography, reporting date, fuel definition and limits attached. They cannot be added into a current worldwide usable-stock total.
North America
U.S. stocks lead this view. Canadian inventories and Pemex production cover separate dates and fuel definitions; these observations are not a continental balance.
United States: reported inventory
Observation: 2 October 2026
93.734 million barrels
Reported 0–15 ppm sulfur distillate stocks fell 2.674 million barrels from 4 September, a net draw averaging 95,500 barrels per day.
Scope limit: This diesel and heating-fuel pool includes uses beyond road diesel. Reported primary stocks are not all physically withdrawable; no measured fossil/bio split is supplied.
Reported closing stocks were 8,710 cubic metres above the 30 June level. This country observation moves in the opposite direction to the U.S. interval shown here.
Scope limit: Broad distillate is not road-only diesel or physically withdrawable inventory. July Canadian stocks cannot be combined with October U.S. stocks as a current regional total.
Pemex diesel production rose 64,683 barrels per day from June. It separately reported imports of 72,289 and domestic sales of 331,140 barrels per day.
Scope limit: Company output includes unfinished products. Company sales are not national consumption; these figures do not establish a Mexican national surplus.
A matched seven-country stock panel sits beside French station declarations and a Swiss release. Their different populations and measures remain separate.
Seven European countries: matched road-diesel stocks
Observation: 31 August 2026
13.706465 million tonnes of road diesel
Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Austria and Finland reported a combined fall of 148,958 tonnes from July.
Scope limit: This territorial panel is not all Europe. Road diesel is already inside the broader gas/diesel pool. EU27 customs flows cover a different population and cannot close this balance.
The archived snapshot found declarations at 550 eligible station IDs, about 5.69% of that reporting sample.
Scope limit: Reports can be stale or missing and are not weighted by fuel volume. This is not all French stations, unmet litres, an identified cause or an outage probability.
The regulator reported this compulsory diesel withdrawal against a 30,000 cubic-metre authorization, then reported normal supply covering demand.
Scope limit: Authorized and withdrawn volumes are different measures and must not be added together. This episode total is not an ongoing deficit or current usable reserve.
Indian production and consumption, and Singapore customs flows, offer distinct country perspectives. Current region-wide usable stocks and a common delivery account remain unidentified.
India: production and consumption
Observation: August 2026
10.1 million tonnes of HSD produced
Reported high-speed diesel consumption was 7.023 million tonnes, 6.8% above August 2025. Consumption includes SEZ/private imports and some prorated reporting.
Scope limit: Production is rounded. Its difference from consumption is not measured inventory growth; trade and other flows must also reconcile.
Imports include 241,281 tonnes from China. Singapore separately reported 1,631,204 tonnes of diesel exports in August.
Scope limit: Do not add China-origin imports to the import total again. Customs flows do not measure stock changes, confirmed discharge, or Chinese national output and consumption.
Brazilian fuel components, dispositions and customs trade provide country-specific evidence. They do not establish finished diesel availability throughout South America.
Brazil: fuel components and dispositions
Observation: August 2026
4,890,918 cubic metres of Diesel A delivered
The August records separately report 918,895 cubic metres of B100 production and 6,161,325 cubic metres sold under the broad Diesel B heading.
Scope limit: B100 production, Diesel A deliveries and broad Diesel B sales cannot be summed as finished supply or used to infer an exact same-month blend share.
Reported imports of 1,079,067 tonnes less exports of 89,825 tonnes give this net-import quantity.
Scope limit: Reported mass is retained because an auxiliary-volume anomaly is unresolved. Trade is not a current stock observation or proof of destination-level availability.
Australia’s regulatory stocks and New Zealand’s domestic coverage use different definitions. They cannot be pooled into a regional countdown.
Australia: regulatory stock comparison
Observation: Stocks held: 6 October 2026
2,871 million litres of eligible diesel stocks
Reported automotive-diesel MSO stocks fell 137 ML from 29 September, after two weekly increases. The displayed reduced requirement was 2,262 ML.
Scope limit: Eligible stocks include some crude/unfinished product equivalents and fuel in defined waters. This is not finished onshore inventory. The temporary reduction ends 31 January 2027.
The snapshot separately reported 0.6 shipping days inside the exclusive economic zone and 18.9 offshore days, against the source’s pre-conflict consumption rate.
Scope limit: Days of cover do not predict a run-out date. Shipping is separate from domestic stocks. Published 30 September, this remains a 27 September observation.
Historical context only. These Kenyan and Zambian records describe 2025 observations; they do not represent current African inventories, demand or service conditions.
Kenya: historical · pipeline throughput
Observation: Calendar 2025 · provisional
2,083,000 cubic metres of domestic diesel throughput
The provisional 2025 series separately reports 1,974,500 cubic metres of transit diesel throughput.
Scope limit: Annual throughput is not October 2026 inventory or demand. Transit is not automatically customs exports or fuel consumed in Kenya.
These records document selected stocks and flows. Deliverable fuel also depends on location, product specification, release authority, shipping, terminal access and continuing supply. A station declaration is not a volume-weighted shortage probability. A stock decline is not proof of a physical operating floor.

U.S. 0–15 ppm distillate, including diesel and heating fuel. Reported total is not dispatchable stock.
The 2,262 ML reduced requirement expires 31 January 2027. It is not a delivery-failure threshold. The date starts from the observation, never the time you visit.
MSO automotive diesel includes eligible crude/unfinished equivalents, pipelines and fuel in defined waters. It is not all finished fuel on land.
615 temporary diesel declarations among 9679 eligible IDs; 87 began over 30 days ago. Counts are not a measured share of fuel demand.
Live administrative snapshot; station declarations may be old. Eligible station IDs are not all stations, demand-weighted volumes or a global probability.
Unique IDs with a diesel price or active temporary diesel declaration. Permanent outages and unknown offerings are excluded from the denominator. Declarations are not verified outages or unmet fuel volumes.
Monthly partial country reports with reporting lag. Native gas/diesel KBBL closing stocks and source assessment codes; not current global usable supply.
Reported native KBBL gas/diesel closing stocks only. Missing/suppressed values excluded. Assessment codes retained as source flags; countries and product coverage differ. No world total or deficit is inferred.
